What this Playskool box is
The First Steps Floor mat keeps Wobble 'n Go Friends Kitty within reach as a palm-sized starter. It sits at $9.99, built the way this range has always built things — thick, rounded, washable. Size on the listing: Medium. Stock was running low on the last sweep; it tends to come back.
It gets played with on the floor rather than at a table, which is how most of this range is meant to work. Explorers of two and three want a reaction they caused themselves, and that is the whole design brief. Fun lasts longer when nothing has to be set up first.
On this floor it sits between the blocks and the drawing desk, close enough to get mixed into both. Parents end up with a toy that joins other games instead of replacing them, which is the quiet strength of the Playskool range and the reason a Playskool box outlives a trend.

The design flaw with these toys is that the ears which flip back and forth are hollow, that is, it is not a solid piece of plastic equally thick on both sides. It has a lip around…
